Ramen Jinya (or Jinya Ramen Bar, depending on where you look) is opening a new location in Kerrisdale possibly January or February 2015. Seeing that I still haven’t tried the original location of Ramen Jinya on the south end of Robson St., I hauled my ass through the rain and wind to get my fill of porky, ramen goodness. Man, was it good!
This is first of three collaboration (#BCBeerBloggers) posts about local Winter seasonal beers. Other participating blogs include:
West Coast Beer Geek – A beer geeks perspective on craft beer, beer events, beer pairings and more.
Mike’s Craft Beer – Not for the weak of taste buds. Lots of great beer reviews, brewery reviews and events on this site.
Dennis the Foodie – Weaving a personal story of food and beer in Vancouver, BC. Very thorough food reviews, great photos and beer pairings. Hey, that’s me!
Western Suds – An Alberta craft beer blog written by a craft beer enthusiast and ambassador for the growing Alberta craft beer scene.
Beer Rater – A beer guide without all the fluff, just some straight forward drinking advice.
If you love local beer, check these guys out! For this blog, I’m doing a food-based take on Winter seasonal beers by pairing them up with some specific food.
I had a little dose of British food at The Abbey the other week, so I thought I’d finally go try the other newish British gastropub in town, The Fat Badger. While The Abbey has quite a few British-inspired dishes like Welsh Rarebit, Lancashire Hotpot and Sausages & Mash, The Fat Badger is actually a full-on British gastropub experience, with a full British menu, all British beers on tap and a UK-focused playlist on the sound system.
From the folks behind La Buca and Pied-à-Terre, comes their new “progressive tavern”, The Abbey. I’d call it an upscale pub, but that doesn’t quite do it justice. I guess “progressive tavern” will have to do until I think up a better descriptor.
Glad to see Hawkers Market back for another year of food, music and fun! (Previous posts here and here.) If you’ve never heard of Hawkers Market, it’s basically a warehouse party/rave mashed up with a farmers market/street food festival.
Lotta photos and less words in this time 😀 Continue reading Cookie & Milk Shot Plus More at Hawkers Market – May 10 2014
Zipang moved from Main & 21st to Main & 15th (across the street from Brewery Creek) and renamed themselves as Zipang Provisions. I love the inside and the food’s not bad! Worth another visit! Continue reading Zipang Provisions on Main St: Fancier Digs, Good Food
Finally made it back to Chewies (facebook) since I tried it two years ago. Pork belly crackling and fried chicken! Continue reading Small Lunch at Chewies Coal Harbour
