LA Day 4 – A Cross-Cultural Mash-Up of Epic Proportions

After shaking off the emotional crap from the previous night, we headed out and did an epic day:

  • Quan Ngon Nha Trang (San Gabriel)
  • Fugetsu-do Sweet Shop (Little Tokyo)
  • Far Bar (Little Tokyo)
  • Angel City Brewery (Little Tokyo/DTLA)
  • Wurstkuche (Little Tokyo/DTLA)
  • Pie Hole (Little Tokyo/DTLA)
  • Pizzanista (Arts District)

So in this one day, we were able to pack in Vietnamese noodles, Japanese sweets, German sausages with Belgian fries, American pie, and New York(ish) pizza. We could’ve easily added in Mexican food (of which there are a ton of regional styles available in LA) but surprisingly we didn’t have a drop of during our entire trip because we just couldn’t fit it in.

LA Day 3 – More Great Beer, and a Tough Night of Thai Food

In the previous two days of our trip, I was dazzled by the variety of beers available. I was at times paralyzed by choice! A good problem to have, I guess. Today, we scaled it back a bit.

Places visited:

  • Golden Road Brewing (Glendale)
  • Night + Market Song (Silverlake)

Sampling the Sprawl in Los Angeles – April 2015

It was a massive 10-day vacation in Los Angeles around Easter long weekend where we visited ~32 food/beer places. We brought Wicca’s mom there for the annual Qingming Festival (Ching Ming aka Tomb-Sweeping Day) because Wicca’s maternal grandparents are interred in one of the Chinese cemeteries there. Put a Nerd on It: Portland Trip Megapost – August 2012

This was our third wonderful trip to Portland. “Beervana” indeed. Another case of waaaaay too much to do and not enough time. In fact, I got a bit overloaded towards the end. Too much of a good thing is a good problem to have…?

This is another post dug out of my personal Facebook account — too good to be left in the walled garden! AFAIK, all the places I visited are still open, so all this info still applies today if you thinking of planning a trip. The one exception is Amnesia Brewing, whose brewpub location got sold and the brewery moved to Washington State (more details here). Serendipity in San Francisco – June 2013

Our food & beer adventures in SF! There’s so much to do there, we’ll have to go back soon! This trip was all about having too much on our list to do, but being relaxed and open-minded enough to just let things happen and take chances when they come up!
