Back in university, Cheesecake Etc. was THE place to go for dessert, coffee and to just hang out. (Well, Bread Garden was also huge around the same time too… :/ ) After our satisfying dinner at Kalvin’s Szechuan, we felt like doing one more thing before calling it a night so we went to Cheesecake Etc. to satisfy Yosef’s insatiable sweet tooth.

We haven’t eaten at Kalvin’s Szechuan for at least 8 years. Back then we didn’t know what dishes to order so we weren’t really thrilled. We recently came back with friends who are better at navigating the menu than we are, and left the restaurant happily stuffed!

Sushi by Yuji on Kingsway near Nanaimo (not to be confused with Yuji’s From Japan on Alma & 4th, where La Ghianda used to be) has been open since Spring 2013. The chef/owner used to work at Shiro on Cambie in their heyday, and I’m glad to see Sushi by Yuji still in business after more than a year. This is one of just a few places that I’d consider eating sushi at in the eastside, along with Shima-ya on Victoria Drive.
