Wicca and I sometimes differ on restaurants. Some I like more than she does (Alibi Room), and of course she has her own preferences and favourites. One place we BOTH agree on is Longtail Kitchen with their punchy, powerful Thai flavours in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. We find it quite easy to make the effort … Continue reading I Choo Choo Choose You at Longtail Kitchen→
My favourite Thai place, Longtail Kitchen in New West, is finally serving a great local beer on tap, courtesy of New West neighbors Steel & Oak. I wrote about Steel & Oak’s opening a couple weeks ago here and was looking forward to having more of their delicious Red Pilsner with Longtail’s food.
I love the accomplished Thai cooking in a casual atmosphere that Longtail Kitchen excels at. We went for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. Since we got there around 3:00pm, we thought why not try their Chef’s Menu? (See previous Longtail Kitchen posts here.)
I know we go on and on about Longtail Kitchen (facebook) in New West. They do longtable pop-up dinners featuring different chefs on a semi-regular basis. This was the first one we’ve been to. We really enjoyed it!
Yeah, yeah, yeah…Longtail Kitchen AGAIN. But at least they have a new Fall menu! If anyone knows of such a casual place with this level of cooking, let me know!

I don’t often do “revisit” posts unless something goes REALLY haywire with a place. Day-to-day stuff I post on Instagram and the bigger, more important, or newsworthy stuff I post here. My second visit to Sen Pad Thai resulted in more thoughts about this place — too much to cram into an Instagram post — … Continue reading Second Look: Sen Pad Thai at Granville Island→
The newest Angus An venture, Sen Pad Thai, opened up a couple weeks ago (early May 2017) in the Net Loft building across from the Granville Island Public Market. (It’s the same building that houses Paper-Ya.) The whole Angus An group of restaurants has had a busy season. Only two weeks previous, Freebird Chicken Shack … Continue reading First Look: Sen Pad Thai in Net Loft at Granville Island→
I was invited by epicmedia (Donnelly Group‘s PR company) to judge their 4th Annual Chicken Fight bourbon bbq wing competition: It was my first time doing anything like this. All the judges got free wings and beer, so why not? Kitsilano area restaurants were invited to participate, and each team got 20 lbs of wings … Continue reading Chicken Fight IV: Bourbon BBQ Wing Competition at The Bimini Pub in Kitsilano→
